and WhistlerTravel reimbursement program for a TransLink monthly passExtensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance for those meeting eligibility requirementsCompany-matched pension plan and the option to enroll in the Group Registered Retirement Savings Plan10 days of paid vacation annually, increasing with service, along with 12 statutory holidays and paid birthday leaveComplimentary hotel stay for newly hired colleagues, including breakfast for two through our BE OUR GUEST programColleague benefit card offering discounted room and F&B rates at Accor properties worldwideThe opportunity to work in a luxury hotel environment within a Vancouver heritage building, dating back to 1939Learning programs designed to sharpen your skillsOpportunities to contribute through Corporate Social Responsibility activitiesWhat You Will Be DoingReporting to the Director, Conference Services & Catering, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:Actively seek out and solicit current local social & corporate businessOrganize, plan and assist in executing events including fundraisers, annual events, Christmas parties and small to medium size conferencesAct as the group organizer's contact and plan all details of the client’s event or conference needs including menus, audio-visual, room layout, outside activities, meeting times, check in/out procedures etc.Accurately forecast and project group revenueBe fully accountable for the achievement of individual and departmental revenue targetsRelay all details of conferences and events to all departments in a professional thorough and timely manner using Conference Resumes, Banquet Event Orders and internal memos effectivelyFoster a co-operative team spirit with and between Sales, Banquets, Culinary and Stewarding teamsAssist with administrative departmental needs as requiredAssist with Tour market and Internal events as requiredHandle general inquiries and leadsConduct site inspections: rooms, conference space and F&B outlets as requestedLiase closely with Front Office, Reservations, and Housekeeping in order to ensure that pertinent guest arrival details are communicatedOverseeing clients while in-house,



ensuring their events go as they expect and anticipating their needsRun weekly Opera Cloud reports and ensure the system is current and up to date; upkeep of Catering menus, resources, pricing and function diaryContracting and execution of Local & Social Catering events including WeddingsResponsible for preparing and distributing Banquet Event Orders and floor plans on a daily/weekly basis. This includes the prompt distribution of last minute changes to affected departments.To be Health & Safety conscious and actively involved in maintaining a safe work environment.Complies with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts policies, procedures and code of ethics.Performs any and all other tasks which are assigned by management.Upholds the highest standard of internal and external customer service at all times contributing positively to GSI Meeting Planner results.QualificationsWhat We're Looking ForWorking knowledge of Opera Cloud, MS Office & Social Tables is an assetPrevious experience working in a Conference Services & Catering Department in a manager capacity an assetPrevious Food & Beverage/Banquet experience is an assetProven ability to plan and organize events effectively, with an acute sense of detailAbility to manage several tasks simultaneously using strong time management and prioritization skillsAbility to make high quality guest decisions and to perform under pressureProfessional appearance and demeanorExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbalMust be able to work independently and maintain a positive attitude within a very busy environmentHospitality diploma or degree an assetAbility to work flexible schedules (including evenings and weekends)Physical RequirementsFrequent sitting throughout shiftOccasional lifting and carrying up to 20 lbsOccasional bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling and walkingOccasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and rampsAdditional InformationVisa RequirementsMust be legally eligible to work in Canada.
