As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will report to the Sr. Director, IT Operations & Security and be primarily responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our critical network infrastructure, while also supporting Systems Engineering functions.Your work will ensure our global offices and cloud environments are highly available, performant, and secure, while our internal systems run smoothly. This is an exciting opportunity to architect and evolve our global network, apply a security‐first mindset, and leverage automation across both networking and systems domains.This role is expected to come into our Toronto office at least 2 times per week, so you can thrive in your new role and fully embrace being a Dutonian!Key ResponsibilitiesArchitecture & Design – Design and implement scalable solutions across our global infrastructure—including office networks, endpoints, and cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure)—with a focus on reliability, security, and user experience.Operations & Reliability – Own day‐to‐day operations of core infrastructure services (network, endpoints, identity, and access), ensuring availability, performance, and scalability across sites and cloud platforms.Incident Response & Troubleshooting – Provide Tier 2/3 incident response and problem‐solving for complex infrastructure issues (network, systems, and connectivity), driving swift resolution and thorough root cause analysis to minimize impact.Security & Access Controls – Implement and maintain security controls and policies across the network and systems, including firewall rules, segmentation, zero‐trust principles, and IAM (Entra, Azure AD, Okta) to ensure secure, consistent access.Monitoring, Analysis & Optimization – Use monitoring, logging, and packet analysis tools to detect, diagnose, and remediate performance and reliability issues; proactively recommend and implement improvements across infrastructure components.Automation & Integrations – Develop and maintain automation (e.G., Python, PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, Terraform, Workato, Zapier) to standardize configurations and streamline workflows for endpoints, network, identity,
and access management.Cloud & SaaS Infrastructure Support – Partner with infrastructure and security teams to ensure network, endpoint, identity, and SaaS integrations follow best practices in Azure, AWS, and/or GCP, supporting secure and scalable hybrid environments.Support & Enablement – Provide advanced support to employees globally using ITSM tools such as Jira, and contribute to internal knowledge sharing and, where needed, user‐facing training materials.Documentation & Standards – Maintain clear, comprehensive documentation for infrastructure configurations, standards, runbooks, and procedures to support repeatable and reliable operations.On‐Call & Alerting – Create, manage, and respond to alerts (PagerDuty) for infrastructure services and participate in the on‐call rotation to ensure 24/7 coverage.Basic Qualifications8+ years of experience in enterprise network engineering and operations.5+ years in a systems administration/engineering or IT support environment.Professional network certification (e.G., CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent) or equivalent hands‐on experience.Extensive experience with TCP/IP networking and routing protocols (e.G., BGP, OSPF), as well as experience with VPNs, wireless, and modern networking concepts in large-scale distributed environments.Demonstrated proficiency with network automation using Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools.Experience working with IAM tools (Entra, Azure AD, Okta) and processes (account lifecycle, permissions, privileged account management).Experience supporting a mixed endpoint environment including macOS and Windows.Technical SkillsDeep knowledge of routing, switching, VPN, DNS, DHCP, and network segmentation.Experience with firewall platforms (e.G., Palo Alto) and network security solutions (e.G., Zscaler, Cloudflare WARP).Proficiency with packet analysis and network monitoring tools.Strong scripting skills (e.G., Python, PowerShell, Bash).Experience with configuration and patch management tools (e.G., Intune, Jamf) and asset management solutions.Experience working in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, and/or Azure), including cloud networking concepts (VPCs/VNets, peering, security groups, routing).Preferred QualificationsStrong background in network security, including DDoS mitigation, IDS/IPS, and zero‐trust architecture.Experience designing and optimizing global WAN and hybrid cloud connectivity.Familiarity with the full VDI lifecycle,
