Empower youth and adults in mental health recovery as a Peer Support Specialist with Canadian Mental Health Association. Utilize your personal experience to foster resilience and connection.
The full time Peer Support Specialist will provide essential recovery-focused support at CMHA and Youth Wellness Hub Ontario. You’ll work closely with clients to help them navigate challenges, identify personal goals, and achieve their recovery plans. A diploma in a relevant discipline alongside lived experience is required to facilitate effective support.
Key Responsibilities:
• Build trusting relationships through peer-focused engagement
• Support individuals in developing life skills and problem-solving
• Guide clients in accessing vital community resources
• Encourage meaningful community participation and social connections
• Document client interactions following program standards
Requirements:
• Relevant post-secondary diploma such as Social Service Worker
• 1-2 years’ experience in health-related settings
• Personal recovery experience from mental health or addiction
• Hold a valid Ontario Driver’s Licence and have vehicle access
• Flexibility in hours to fulfill position requirements
