Put your technical expertise to work as a temporary Maintenance Mechanic. This role in Penetanguishene focuses on critical facility upkeep and supports skilled trades throughout our premises.
As a Maintenance Mechanic at the Central North Correctional Centre, you will work part of a small team tasked with ensuring the safety and functionality of facilities. Your duties involve general maintenance, supervision of inmate helpers, and assisting external tradespeople. This temporary position can last up to six months, with a chance for extension and a shift premium.
Key Responsibilities:
• Escort tradespeople during maintenance and repairs
• Perform upkeep duties, including painting and bulb changes
• Maintain kitchen, pumps, and grounds equipment




• Manage groundskeeping tasks such as mowing and snow removal
• Oversee inmate helpers and report their performance
Requirements:
• Certification in a skilled trade recognized in Ontario
• Current First Aid and Heartsaver certification
• Understanding of safety regulations and building codes
• Proficiency in various maintenance and repair tasks
• Capable of effective communication and reporting
