Join OCWA as a Water and Wastewater Operator to enhance community health through protected water management in Ontario. This position targets OPSEU represented employees facing layoffs.
This crucial role involves operating and maintaining essential water and wastewater facilities for public benefit. Successful candidates will either have, or be eligible for, Class 1 certifications, ensuring their ability to perform the required job functions effectively. Your role will also include compliance with health regulations and effective communication with all stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
• Operate water and wastewater treatment facilities daily
• Conduct regular preventive maintenance and repairs
• Collect and analyze water/wastewater samples
• Maintain compliance with health and safety standards
• Prepare detailed operational logs and reports
Requirements:
• OPSEU represented employee currently under layoff notice
• Qualifications for Class 1 certification or Operator-in-Training
• Valid Class G driver’s license
• Knowledge of treatment processes and regulatory standards
• Willingness to work overtime and respond to emergencies
