Above all, we are passionate about what we do and dedicated to serving our lower middle-market clients with excellence every dayJob Description:As a Vice President of M&A, you will work alongside our entire team, supporting clients across the full M&A transaction lifecycle - from initial engagement through closing. This role will be execution-focused in the near term, with opportunities over time to develop origination and business development skills alongside our leadership teamJoin a high-performance team offering excellent growth opportunities, a healthy work/life balance and a hybrid work model. The team works in our office near Toronto’s Distillery District 3-4 days per week, providing both collaboration and flexibilityOccasional travel within the GTA and Southern Ontario is required.
Candidates must have access to a vehicle for independent travel to client sites, with mileage reimbursed by HSPCompensation Range: $120,000 to $140,000 per year, subject to the candidate’s experience and fit, with additional bonus opportunities for client originationKey Responsibilities:Transaction Execution & Deal LeadershipLead the execution of sell-side M&A engagements for privately owned Ontario-based businesses, including financial analysis, valuation, buyer outreach and process managementPrepare and review marketing materials, including CIMs, teasers, management presentations and financial modelsServe as the day-to-day deal quarterback, managing timelines, workstreams and external advisors (legal, accounting, lenders)Coordinate due diligence, data rooms and Q&AProvide support during LOI negotiations, purchase agreements and closing mechanicsClient Advisory & Relationship ManagementAct as a primary point of contact for clients during live mandatesDevelop a deep understanding of client businesses, objectives and personal considerationsDemonstrate high emotional intelligence (EQ) while working directly with founding entrepreneurs and their families, often serving as both an M&A intermediary and trusted advisor. The ability to navigate complex,
sensitive discussions with empathy and professionalism is a key determinant of successOrigination & Business Development ExposureWork closely with senior leadership on origination and business development initiatives, including pitch preparation, client meetings, industry research and target identificationDevelop relationships with financial sponsors, strategic buyers, accountants, lawyers, bankers and other intermediariesGradually assume increased responsibility for client coverage and mandate sourcingWhile there are no formal business development targets in this role, a bonus program is in place to reward new client origination effortsExperience & Skills We Are Looking For:5+ years of investment banking experience with prior experience in sell-side M&AExperience in private equity, accounting, transaction services, audit, or financial due diligence (e.G., Big Four or national accounting firm) also considered an assetEntrepreneurial attitude & interest in joining a growing boutique firm focused on working with family-owned private enterprisesProven ability to lead transactions and manage multiple client engagementsStrong financial modeling, valuation and analytical skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProfessional, detail-oriented and client-focusedBachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field; CPA, CFA, or MBA is an asset but not requiredSeniority levelExecutiveEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionBusiness Development and SalesIndustriesInvestment Banking#J-18808-Ljbffr
