The Work

As part of a growing and dynamic Commercial Portfolio Management team, the Senior Commercial Account Manager is responsible for the day‑to‑day management of an assigned group of lending partners and the associated portfolio of mortgages, from funding through maturity. The portfolio includes complex construction, renovation, and portfolio mortgages secured by all asset classes, ranging in size from $5.0 million to $50.0 million, with participation in syndicated transactions of $150.0 million or more expected. The role requires delivering superior customer service by managing underwriting renewals, assumptions, refinances, loan modifications, and other requests to meet annual retention targets while adhering to established policies, underwriting standards, and compliance controls.

The Core Parts Of Your Role Would Be To

- Provide superior customer service by managing complex commercial mortgage facilities, completing renewals, refinances, assumptions, annual reviews, and ad‑hoc requests quickly, efficiently, and accurately.
- Control credit risk associated with the portfolio of mortgages and ensure compliance with approved guidelines and delegated authority limits.
- Leverage industry expertise to provide significant support and guidance to junior team members.
- Maintain communication with internal contacts (management, originations, funders, coordinators, etc.) to ensure transactions and requests meet prescribed deadlines.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly reports on assigned categories required by the department and company, which are relied upon by Senior Management.
- Contribute to special projects as assigned from time to time.





Job Complexities/Thinking Challenges

The position requires managing complex construction, renovation, and portfolio loans. The incumbent must be client‑focused, a self‑starter, capable of making sound underwriting decisions efficiently, and possess solid cognitive skills and professional judgment. Work independently with minimal supervision to identify and mitigate risks associated with individual transactions while balancing client needs. Follow corporate policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to rationalize recommendations. Handle incomplete information and invest time in mentoring junior employees.

Let's Talk About You!

- Post‑secondary education (diploma/degree) preferably in business or finance.
- Bilingualism (French/English) is considered an asset.
- Proficient underwriting skills with 7–10 years of commercial mortgage experience.
- Sound technical knowledge of commercial real‑estate underwriting, financial statement analysis, and market factors.
- Significant experience with construction and syndicated lending across all asset types.
- Working knowledge of AML/ATF regulations and corporate/legal documentation for commercial real‑estate in multiple jurisdictions across Canada.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office,

- Demonstrated ability to work independently to achieve goals.
- Proven track record of mentorship and employee development.
