Job Overview
Join our dynamic HR team at Georgia‑Pacific Oriented Strand Board (OSB) manufacturing operation located in Englehart, Ontario. The Englehart facility is a critical site in GP’s Building Products business and produces OSB used for floor, wall, and roof sheathing in residential and light commercial construction.
Our Team
As a key member of our HR team, you will work onsite at the manufacturing facility, collaborating with Payroll and Office Administration and reporting directly to the Manager – HR Business Partner. You will support employees across Canada with a primary focus on the Englehart site, driving employee engagement, recognition, and shaping workplace culture.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and management on work‑related issues, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
- Conduct investigations and recommend actions in response to employee complaints or concerns.
- Promote employee engagement and morale through effective communication and recognition programs.
- Partner with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and develop effective recruitment strategies.
- Drive a “preferred employer” approach through outreach initiatives and creative thinking.
- Participate in the selection process, including conducting interviews and assisting with candidate evaluations.
- Facilitate onboarding for new employees, ensuring a strong orientation and training.
- Collaborate with supervisors and managers to establish performance goals and development plans for employees.
- Provide guidance and support on performance management issues, including performance improvement plans and terminations if necessary.
- Conduct regular reviews of performance management processes and recommend improvements.
- Support administration of compensation programs,
including salary planning, job evaluations, and bonus programs.
- Assist employees with inquiries regarding benefits, leave policies, and other HR matters.
- Serve as the emergency backup for payroll processing.
- Identify training needs and develop training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
- Coordinate and facilitate training sessions, internally and with external vendors.
- Support career development initiatives and succession planning efforts.
Qualifications
- HR experience.
- Knowledge of employment laws and practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous HR experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- HR experience within a unionized environment.
- CHRP certification.
Salary Range
The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $75,000 to $120,000. This position is a backfill for an employee who vacated the role.
