Location: Guelph
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Salary: $65,000+ and may be adaptable depending on experience + benefits + RSP
About Our Client
Our client is a growing mechanical contracting and building-services organization that provides installation, maintenance, and service solutions to commercial and industrial customers.
The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll & Accounts Receivable Specialist.
Reporting to the Controller, this individual will be responsible for processing bi-weekly payroll and supporting accounts receivable activities during non-payroll weeks.
Key Responsibilities
- Process accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll for approximately 75 employees.
- Review employee time entries and confirm that hours are allocated to the correct jobs and cost codes.
- Review payroll reports, identify discrepancies, and investigate errors before payroll is finalized.
- Process payroll adjustments, Records of Employment, T4s, and year-end documentation.
- Maintain complete and accurate employee payroll records.
- Calculate and process payroll-related remittances, including WSIB, EHT, CPP, EI, income tax, and RRSP-related amounts.
- Complete monthly payroll account reconciliations.
- Ensure payroll activities comply with the Ontario Employment Standards Act and applicable federal and provincial requirements.
- Respond to employee questions regarding pay, deductions, Records of Employment, and other payroll matters.
- Work closely with the Controller and accounting team to ensure payroll information is accurate and properly recorded.
- Support accounts receivable activities during non-payroll periods.
- Prepare customer invoices and assist with payment tracking.
- Review reports and investigate billing or account discrepancies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience processing payroll.
- Strong understanding of the full payroll cycle.
- Working knowledge of CPP, EI, employer contributions, payroll deductions, remittances, and payroll reporting.
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Employment Standards Act.
- Ability to review payroll reports, identify errors, and determine the cause of discrepancies.
- Experience with accounting administration is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
