Lead safety and security initiatives with Northumberland Ferries Limited in Halifax. As Director of Safety & Security, your expertise will drive regulatory compliance and operational safety strategies for an essential marine transportation provider. Reporting to the Vice President, Administration, the Director of Safety & Security serves as a senior leader overseeing safety management, regulatory compliance, and emergency preparedness.

Your role will also involve managing the Designated Person Ashore function, ensuring direct lines of communication with top decision-makers regarding safety matters. This position aims to foster a robust safety culture and ensure the highest standards of regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities:




Lead continuous improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS)
Ensure compliance with marine and safety regulations
Conduct audits, inspections, and incident investigations
Oversee marine and facility security programs
Develop safety objectives and risk assessments Requirements:
Degree in Engineering or related field
10+ years of progressive leadership experience
In-depth knowledge of ISM Code and SOLAS
Solid problem-solving and leadership skills
