In this newly created role, reporting to Head of Tax, Canada, the selected candidate will be responsible for supporting the taxoperations of an $11B business and be given the opportunity to be a part of a world class tax team.Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key AccountabilitiesTax Compliance: Prepare/ Assist/ review working papers to support the direct tax compliance process ensuring timely filingsTax Risk Management: Coordinate tax audit data flows in an effective manner and liaise with tax authorities and advisors on inquiries and assessmentsIndirect Tax Process Management: Oversee the Indirect Tax compliance process, conduct internal control reviews ensuring gaps identified are addressed at the source for corrective actions.Tax Technology: Actively participate in digitalization initiatives, including creating tax-specific scenarios, overseeing the execution of user-acceptance tests relating to taxesTax Documentation: Conduct tax research,
consider and analyze impact to the company and document tax technical matters for communication with internal stakeholder; maintain accurateand organized records of all tax-related activitiesSupport the direct tax compliance process ensuring timely filingsManage the tax audit data flows in an effective manner and liaise with tax authorities and advisors on inquiries and assessmentsActively participate in digitalization initiatives, including creating tax-specific scenarios, overseeing the execution of user-acceptance tests relating to taxesOversee the Indirect Tax compliance process, conduct internal control reviews ensuring gaps identified are addressed at the source for corrective actions.Tax research and documentation of tax technical mattersRequired Experience, Skills, and EducationUniversity degree in Finance or Accounting with Accounting Qualification (CPA or comparable)Minimum 5+ years of relevant tax experience, and ability to use tax technical expertise in developing solutions to critical issuesWorking knowledge of taxability matrices, familiarity with SAP and other bolt-on Tax softwareHighly proficient in large data analysis with the ability to identify and summarize outcomes, and apply effective project approach and methodology to implement process improvementsThrives working in a fast-paced and dynamic enterprise and adherence to deadlinesDemonstrates a positive and flexiblemind-set, and acts as a team playerwithin and across departmentsIn our commitment to efficiency, consistency, and a fair hiring experience for all candidates, The Home Depot Canada usesArtificial Intelligence (AI) technology to assist with the screening and assessment of applicantsfor this position.
