Duties
Safely operate long-distance step-deck trailers to transport freight across various regions, adhering strictly to all traffic laws and safety regulations
Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and load to ensure safety and compliance with company standards
Secure freight properly using appropriate tie-downs, straps, and other securing devices to prevent shifting or damage during transit
Utilize forklift skills to load and unload freight efficiently at warehouses or staging areas when necessary
Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, routes taken,
and delivery documentation in compliance with federal and state regulations
Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and team members to coordinate pickups, deliveries, and any issues that arise on the road
Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting as needed to keep the vehicle in optimal condition during long hauls
Experience
Proven experience as a commercial driver operating heavy-duty trucks, preferably with long-distance routes involving step-deck trailers
Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) appropriate for operating heavy equipment on long hauls
Clean CVOR
Familiarity with freight handling procedures, securing loads, and heavy equipment operation
Basic automotive repair knowledge to identify common mechanical issues during extended trips
Prior experience with freight transportation across multiple states or regions is highly desirable
