Director, Student Access and Disability Resources
Job Overview
The Director, Student Access and Disability Resources reports to the Associate Vice‑President, Student Affairs and directly oversees the Manager, Accessibility Services; the Manager, Assessment and Testing Services; and Learning Specialists (faculty). The position is responsible for strategic and institutional leadership for Accessibility Services and Assessment & Testing Services. The Director advances the university’s commitment to substantive equality and inclusive access for students with disabilities and for students and community members who access assessment and testing services. Key responsibilities include developing and integrating university‑wide strategies to identify, prevent, and remove systemic barriers, ensuring the duty to accommodate students with disabilities is met, providing senior oversight of complex student needs, managing government‑ and university‑funded resources, and representing the university in partnerships with students, faculty, community organizations, and governmental bodies to strengthen accountability and continuous improvement of student‑centred services.
Education And Experience
- Master’s Degree in a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in progressively responsible roles in postsecondary student services.
- At least 5 years of management experience leading and supervising staff in a postsecondary setting.
- Experience with collective agreements and working in a unionised setting.
- Experience with interpreting medical/psychological documentation preferred.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated understanding of the social model of disability and experience promoting this model within a broader organization/system.
- Experience supporting learners with disability and accommodation issues in an educational setting, preferably post‑secondary.
- Ability to build, manage and lead cohesive teams and implement change that improves service quality, staff productivity and system efficiency.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting information to diverse audiences.
- Advanced collaborative, cross‑functional teamwork skills across organisational levels.
- Strong partner‑building skills with external community partners.
- Business acumen, strong work ethic and skilled integrity when representing the university.
- Proven project development, planning and management expertise, with the ability to prioritise tasks, self‑direct and take proactive initiative.
- Expertise in analysing data and translating insights into strategic planning, budgeting and performance monitoring.
- Knowledge of university systems, structures, procedures and decision‑making processes is an asset.
- Tact and discretion in handling confidential or sensitive information.
- Ability to travel between campuses is required.

Salary Information
14 – Administrative Salary Grid − $114,071 to $174,909.
