Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Class 1 Truck Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently across various routes, and have access to the port locations in the HRM

This role requires a robust commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to handle freight with care. The Truck Driver will also be expected to perform minor automotive repairs and maintenance on the vehicle as needed.

Duties
Operate trucks to transport freight to designated locations in a timely manner.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance.
Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper handling of goods.
Maintain accurate ELOG of driving hours, mileage, and fuel consumption requirements
Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members regarding delivery schedules and any issues that arise during transport.
Perform basic automotive repairs and maintenance on the truck as needed.
Operate heavy equipment and forklifts when required for loading or unloading freight.

Experience




Proven experience in commercial driving with a valid commercial driver's license (CDL). We are looking for 3 years Canadian driving (with winter) experience, with references.
Clean Abstract.
Familiarity with container operation is preferred.
Experience in basic truck- auto repair is a plus, enabling the driver to address minor mechanical issues independently.
Previous experience operating forklifts is beneficial for efficient loading and unloading of freight.
A strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices in freight transportation.
Port experience is considered an asset.
