This role manages shared cloud and enterprise services across departments, aligns the AWS based data platform with existing City network and infrastructure standards, and recommends enhancements to maintain scalability, compliance, and operational stability.Why Join the City of Toronto:As a Senior Technical Support Specialist, you will help ensure the stability, security, and performance of the City’s AWS based Enterprise Data Platform. Your work will support enterprise-wide infrastructure integration and enable divisions to confidently build analytics and AI solutions on a reliable foundation. You will provide services in systems availability, utilization and integration of enterprise infrastructure, that crosses many departmental boundaries, such as existing enterprise data platform, integrations, network security ad resources, performance and security requirements and recommend necessary modifications.Responsibilities:- Design, architect, analyze and implement detailed plans and recommend policies/procedures regarding program specific requirements for AWS Platform. Special attention is required to ensure City’s security requirements for information management and authentication are met- Provide advanced operational support for AWS data services including S3, Redshift, Glue, Kinesis, and EMR across development and production environments- Own the networking and connectivity capabilities for the AWS Toronto Data Platform, enabling, maintaining, and troubleshooting integrations between AWS services, on premise legacy systems, enterprise platforms, and external services to ensure secure, reliable,



and perform end to end interoperability- Maintain and support infrastructure as code using Terraform or CloudFormation to ensure consistent and automated cloud provisioning- Monitor platform health, performance, security controls, and cost optimization within a multi account AWS environment- Support standardized data ingestion and transformation patterns aligned with the City’s Data Lakehouse and medallion architecture- Enforce access controls, data governance policies, and security standards in collaboration with architecture and security teams- Lead root cause analysis and incident resolution for platform level issues and ensure timely remediation- Develop and maintain operational documentation, support runbooks, and knowledge artifacts- Partner with data engineers, software engineers, program teams and divisional teams onboarding to the platform to provide technical guidance and support- Contribute to change management, release planning, and risk assessment for platform enhancements- Evaluate new AWS capabilities and recommend improvements that enhance platform reliability and scalabilityKey Qualifications:1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience2. Extensive experience in supporting enterprise wide infrastructure or cloud platforms in complex environments3. Considerable experience with AWS services and cloud based infrastructure supporting enterprise applications; and in designing and building secure multi-tenant IaaS and PaaS cloud solutions.4. Considerable experience in information systems security, risk management and/or IT-related function with emphasis on Information and Data Protection, Infrastructure and Endpoint Security, Security Intelligence and Analytics.5.



Experience integrating cloud platforms with existing enterprise systems including identity services, directories, network controls, and security frameworks.6. Experience implementing and maintaining infrastructure as code using Terraform or CloudFormation and troubleshooting cross platform integration issues involving databases, applications, and network components7. Ability in maintaining system availability, performance tuning, and capacity planning in large scale environments8. Strong understanding of enterprise security controls, access management, compliance, and audit requirements9. Ability to recommend upgrades and architectural improvements to support scalability and reliability10. Experience supporting enterprise data platforms or data lakehouse /data mesh architectures is considered an asset.11. Experience working in the public sector, or regulated environments, working with cross divisional stakeholders in large organizations will be considered an asset. Knowledge of AWS multi-account environments, governance frameworks, data governance, data mesh concepts, and analytics platforms.12.
