Major's Contracting Ltd. is actively seeking qualified Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic Apprentices to start immediately. This is a full time permanent position located primarily in Deer Lake, NL.

The successful candidate must be currently enrolled in a recognized Heavy Equipment Technician apprenticeship program and actively working toward their Journeyperson/Red Seal certification. Relevant hands-on experience with heavy equipment maintenance and repairs is considered an asset.

Duties:
Confer with the Maintenance Supervisor regarding all repairs and the extent of repairs required.
Complete preventative maintenance inspections.
Check or diagnose equipment to evaluate performance and to detect faults, breaks, or malfunctions.
Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that repairs have been completed to acceptable standards.




Assist in maintaining service records.
Changing hydraulic hoses, fuelling, lubricating, and performing other routine maintenance work.

Schedule: The maintenance facility operates on a 2 week, alternating schedule. Week 1: 6 days on 1 day off. Week 2: 4 days on 3 days off. Overtime after 10 hours/day.

Wage follows the apprenticeship scale with Y1 making 60% of Journeyperson wage, to Y4 making 90%.
