Job Summary & Key Responsibilities Duties include full responsibility and administration for evening teaching labs (labs course delivery and set up; TA supervision; lab assignment marking; lab demonstration set up; exam invigilation and marking, etc.) for PHYC 1290 Introduction to Physics (Winter 2027).
This course concentrates on oscillations and waves, optics, electricity and magnetism.
Ideas are introduced through in-class demonstrations enabling students to relate to physical theory to events in the real world, with hands-on exploration of concepts in labs.
Labs: Wednesdays and Fridays: 5:30pm to 8:30pm Reasonable office hours should be available to students.
Position reports to the Chair of the Department of Physics & Atmospheric Science.
Qualifications/Requirements of Position Candidates must have an advanced degree in Physics (MSc or PhD).
Critical thinking skills and relevant teaching experience at the University level is required, as well as excellent computing, organization, and written communication skills.
Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, foster student learning, work collaboratively with diverse faculty and students,
and contribute to an inclusive academic setting are required.
Salary Range/Pay Rate As per CUPE Collective Agreement.
Additional Information All offers of employment as a Part time Academic are conditional upon sufficient student enrolment in the course and approval by the University.
