Make a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities as an Inclusion Advocate with the City of Oshawa. This role specializes in planning inclusive recreation programs that cater to diverse participant needs.
Reporting to the Inclusion Coordinator, you'll be instrumental in providing recreation opportunities for people with various disabilities through adaptive programming. Your responsibilities will include facilitating participant integration, supporting community collaboration, and ensuring a fun and protected workplace for all. You'll also conduct research and create valuable resources that promote best practices in therapeutic recreation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Facilitate and evaluate adaptive programs for participants
• Observe and suggest enhancements for integration
• Develop visual aids and communication resources
• Liaise with community organizations for alignment
• Provide one-to-one support and assistance
Requirements:
• Education or background in relevant fields
• Experience with diverse physical and developmental needs
• Solid interpersonal skills
• Valid Standard First Aid & CPR certification
• Ability to travel between locations as required
