Job Description: Recreation Aide - Casual Positions at Arbour Heights. Reporting to the Recreation Manager, the Recreation Aide assists in the planning, organization and implementation of meaningful programs for residents.
Responsibilities
Assist in the planning, organization and implementation of meaningful programs for the residents, in collaboration with the Recreation Manager and Executive Director.
Assist with maintenance of department records including assessments, evaluations of planned programs detailing individual participation, charting.
Maintain effective communication and positive human relations with residents, families, volunteers and staff of other departments, keeping them informed of current and upcoming events.
Attend in-service education to stay informed of current trends in the total care of the elderly.
Participate in team meetings to plan programs with residents’ interests in mind.
Facilitate residents’ attendance at scheduled and pre-arranged outings.
Assist with assessment of individual resident activity levels.
Prepare,
carry out and evaluate daily activities.
Assist with meal services as required.
Work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults (residents).
Uphold and promote the organization's values and philosophy relating to ethics, morality, and integrity as set out in Extendicare's Code of Conduct.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
College diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology or equivalent is required.
Previous experience working with seniors.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
An energetic, compassionate person who enjoys working with the elderly.
Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.
