Our client, a national leader and highly respected consulting firm, is seeking a proactive Finance Specialist to join their team on a full time, permanent basis. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in the firm’s day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring financial transactions are processed accurately and efficiently. This includes accounts payable, credit card processing, employee expenses, and maintaining accurate financial records. The ideal candidate thrives in a small-team setting where they can take "end-to-end" ownership of accounting tasks while supporting the broader team. Main responsibilities include:
Manage the full AP cycle, including invoice verification, coding, and payment runs
Support accounts receivable, including client invoices and collections
Review and process employee expense claims and manage cash transfers, including EFTs and wire payments.
Assist with cash flow monitoring, daily liquidity, and bank reconciliations
Prepare and post journal entries for month-end and year-end close,
and reconcile balance sheet accounts
Maintain the fixed asset register and record depreciation; assist with HST filings
Process payroll and support year-end reporting and compliance filings
Assist with year-end working papers for audit, and other periodic reporting requirements
Provide administrative and team support to meet departmental deadlines and operational needs

Qualifications
The main qualifications for this role include:
Post-secondary education in finance and/or accounting is required
Minimum 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
Valuable understanding of accounting principles and procedures
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
