Hours of Work: 80 hours bi-weekly
Shift Work Required: Shift work may be required
Rate of Pay: $32.95 per hour
The start date will follow the selection process.
Main Function: Operate heavy equipment on CGS Construction and Maintenance Projects.
Characteristic Duties: Under the supervision of a Foreperson.
- Operate heavy equipment on CGS Construction and Maintenance Projects.
- Operate bulldozer to grade and move materials.
- Operate backhoe to excavate, lift and load material.
- Operate front end loader to level or move material.
- Operate municipal tractor with various attachments such as snow blower, plough, gang mower, aerator, etc.
- Check assigned vehicle and report any repairs or maintenance required.
- Clean and wash vehicles when necessary.
- Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS's Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Education and Training:
- Successful completion of Secondary School (Grade XII) Education.
Experience:
- Five (5) years of related experience.
Other Requirements:
- Above average ability in operating several units of Heavy Construction or CGS equipment.
- Ability to read and understand all equipment operator’s manuals.
- Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
- Satisfactory health, attendance and former employment history.
- May require the use of a CGS vehicle on CGS business. Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid Class”DZ” driver's licence and have an acceptable driving record.
Note:
(1)This includes mobile boiler operations.
(2) Appointment to the position (mobile boiler operator) may vary, and conditions during the spring break-up will be the deciding factor.
This job is also being posted as a development opportunity. Should there be no fully qualified candidate for this position, a candidate who can be expected to meet the required qualifications within a reasonable period of time may be considered for this position as a development chance.
Development opportunity rate of pay: $31.30 per hour. The successful candidate will be paid at the reduced rate until the minimum qualifications have been met.
