Elevate the lives of athletes in London as a volunteer Softball D Assistant Coach with Special Olympics Ontario. Offer two hours weekly to support inclusive softball practices and games.
In this volunteer role, you'll assist a recreational softball team comprised of athletes with intellectual disabilities. Focused on fielding and safety, your involvement enhances their practice experience without the primary need for hitting skills. Knowledge of pitching is a plus but not mandatory, as fostering a positive workplace is your priority.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support and lead softball practices at Fanshawe College
• Safely interact with balls hit toward athletes
• Encourage participation in friendly matches and tournaments
• Promote inclusivity within the team
• Share softball skills, particularly pitching, as applicable
Requirements:
• Over the age of majority
• Background check is necessary
• Reliable transportation to the coaching location
• Commitment to assist athletes with special needs
• 2-hour session every Thursday evening
