Role Description

The Long Haul Flat Deck Truck Driver is a full time, on-site role based in Abbotsford, BC. This position involves operating flat deck trucks on long haul routes, safely transporting freight across regional and interprovincial distances. Day-to-day tasks include loading and securing flat deck cargo, conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections, following planned routes and schedules, and complying with all DOT and company safety regulations. The driver will be responsible for completing delivery documentation, communicating with dispatch, and representing Whirl Logistics Ltd professionally at customer locations.



The role may involve unloading assistance as required and maintaining the truck in clean, roadworthy condition.

Qualifications
Valid CDL Class A license (or equivalent commercial driver’s license) and a clean driving record.
Demonstrated truck driving experience with flat deck or similar equipment, including safe operation over long distances.
Knowledge of DOT regulations, hours-of-service requirements, and applicable safety standards.
Ability to assist with unloading and securement of freight, including proper use of straps, chains, and tarps.
Solid attention to safety, situational awareness, and adherence to company policies.
Good communication skills for coordinating with dispatch, customers, and team members.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and handle extended periods on the road.
Experience with logbooks or electronic logging devices (ELDs) and basic trip documentation.
Physical capability to handle flat deck cargo tasks and meet job-related demands.
Previous long haul or flat deck experience is an asset; familiarity with Abbotsford, BC routes and Western Canada corridors is beneficial.
