Responsibilities
Work with experienced mentors in the multi-disciplinary Platform Systems Architecture team to help define and validate innovative new products and features.
Support the architecture, hardware, software, and product verification teams on the development and testing of new products.
Contribute to the documentation of design specifications, test plans, and technical reports.
Collaborate with senior engineers and cross‑functional teams to troubleshoot issues and optimize system performance.
Participate in research and development activities to explore new technologies and concepts in optical communications.
Learn and apply industry best practices for optical system design and testing.

Qualifications
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
Basic understanding of optical communication principles, fiber optics, and optical components (lasers, detectors, modulators, etc.).




Excel skills and experience with a scripting language such as Python are assets.
Solid analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced workplace.
Ability to manage multiple projects and quickly respond to changing priorities.

Pay & Benefits

The hourly pay range for this position is $25.00 - $34.00. In addition to competitive compensation, Ciena offers students access to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), company‑paid holidays, paid sick leave, and vacation pay as required by applicable laws.
