About the Role

The Company is seeking a Vice-President for People and Culture, a pivotal role that will be instrumental in shaping the future of the institution. The successful candidate will be a strategic and deeply people-centered leader, with a proven track record in organizational strategy, labor relations, leadership development, and large-scale change management. This visionary executive will be responsible for defining and implementing an integrated people strategy that aligns with the academic mission and long-term sustainability of the institution. They must be adept at leading complex organizational transformations, particularly within highly consultative, unionized, and matrixed settings,

and be committed to fostering a culture of belonging, equity, and well-being.

As the first Vice-President for People and Culture, the role demands a forward-looking, intellectually curious individual who is adept at leveraging data, technology, and cutting-edge approaches to enhance the employee experience. The ideal candidate will be bilingual, with a deep understanding of the unique realities of the academic sector, and will operate with a high level of emotional intelligence, political acuity, and resilience. They will work closely with the executive team to ensure institutional alignment and enhance the experience of faculty and staff. The role also involves serving as the principal advisor on human capital, organizational performance, and culture, and representing the institution externally on workforce and employer positioning matters. The candidate should be deeply committed to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility, and be motivated by the prospect to help shape an inclusive and engaging workplace that reflects the institution's ambitions.
