Our Transportation Infrastructure Group focuses on the Civil Engineering design of linear transportation projects including roads and highways. The Highway Design Engineer will provide technical design expertise, mentoring to junior staff, and support to project teams delivering highway design packages. Experience with the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) highway design is required, as well as understanding of utilities, regulatory agencies, and other highway stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Carry out highway designs under direction of a Project Manager and Senior Engineers.
Mentor and guide junior staff to produce milestone deliverables that meet MTO requirements.
Liaise with other internal disciplines and external parties, including government agencies and utility operators as required.
Be a collaborative member of the design team, focused on completing designs on schedule to meet client requirements.
Follow all quality system standards and procedures.
Follow all applicable standards, codes, and regulations.
Embrace and actively support behavior‑based workplace health and safety policies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and registration as a Skilled Engineer (P. Eng) in Ontario.
Minimum of 5–10 years’ experience working on MTO planning and design projects.
Highway engineering knowledge and skills; solid understanding of MTO design guidelines and standards.
Computer skills – MS Office, AutoCAD, OpenRoads, and other relevant industry‑standard tools.
Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
