You will build real‑time and near‑real‑time software responsible for managing lasers, optical power, and signal behavior, ensuring high‑performance and reliable operation of optical transport equipment. This is a hands‑on role at the intersection of embedded systems, control logic,
and photonic hardware.This role is full‑time on‑site in Ottawa and will require relocation to Ottawa.What you'll doDesign and implement embedded software for Layer 0 optical control systemsDevelop and optimize control loops for optical power, wavelength stabilization, and signal qualityInterface directly with hardware components such as lasers, VOAs, amplifiers, and sensorsImplement real‑time or near‑real‑time feedback systems for optical calibration and controlDevelop low‑level drivers and hardware abstraction layers (I2C, SPI, etc.)Collaborate with system architects to translate optical behavior into software functionalityContribute to fault detection, protection, and restoration mechanisms in optical networksExpose system functionality via management interfaces (e.G., REST APIs, telemetry systems)Debug complex issues across hardware, firmware, and software layersParticipate in system bring‑up, integration, and performance tuningOptimize software for performance, reliability, and scalability in carrier‑grade environmentsWrite clean, maintainable,
