This role is a 1-year contract position with the possibility of extension. The position summary: We are looking for a Software Engineer who reflects the innovative spirit, creative talent, production excellence, team-oriented mindset and passion for great filmmaking that define Lucasfilm. As a Senior Software Engineer for Information Systems (InfoSys), you will work on robust cross platform applications that enable Lucasfilm and its subdivisions to efficiently create and distribute movies and TV shows. Web developers build new websites, support and enhance existing internet sites such as ILM.Com, Lucasfilm.Com & Skysound.Com, extend and develop the global company intranet and integrate 3rd party applications into existing software infrastructure. You will interact with a wide range of clients, learn new workflows, and come up with creative solutions to increase efficiency and productivity across all of Lucasfilm. The breadth of InfoSys applications ranges from deep integrations with 3rd party software to proprietary web applications built around Lucasfilm production and marketing workflows.ResponsibilitiesEngineer and maintain public facing websites including front-end and backend development as well as AWS infrastructure, testing, caching, analytics, accessibility, security & privacy requirementsManage and deploy WordPress plugins, themes and extensions; review, design & support existing code all within WordPress environmentsEngage directly with key stakeholders to support, migrate & build elegant,



user-friendly interfaces for large scale external websites; offering customertraining and documentation for editorsFull stack development of globally used new & legacy web based applicationsCreate and deploy virtual machines and AWS containers. Manage infrastructure to ensure availability, functionality, and securityProvide input on architecture of public websites and applications; build stand alonemodules and smaller web applications for use by clients across the organizationEnsure code is developed, deployed, documented, tested and maintained in keeping with IS guidelines for Gitlab repositoriesParticipate in code reviews, test new concepts and technologies, suggest improvements in technical direction & effectively estimate requirementsLiaise with designers to decide on UI/UX elements (like graphics and navigation)Profile and optimize website performanceBuild sites that are mobile friendly, well tested & engineered for responsivenessEducation / ExperienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical degree8+ years experience in professional software development3+ years developing and maintaining WordPress applicationsRequired SkillsPHP fluencyWordPress theme and plugin developmentWordPress Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) experienceIn depth knowledge of responsive CSS designJavaScript expertiseLinux proficiencyVirtualization: Docker, Docker composeFull stack web development experienceDatabase/SQL experience (MySQL/MariaDB required, PostgreSQL/Oracle would also be nice)Excellent interpersonal, communication, and client-facing skillsAbility to work at a production pace, using creative and innovative approaches to challengesPreferred Skills / CompetenciesWeb & CMS frameworks: WordPress,

The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
