Overview

TheWaste and Workplace department is accepting applications for up to two (2)term relief positions of Recycling Station and Yard Waste Site Attendant.

Job Posting

STATUS: Full Time, Term Relief – up to 3 months

HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week, eveningand weekend shift work will be required

PAYRATE: $30.14 per hour

In this role, you will:

- Maintain and oversee the dailyoperation of the yard waste site
- Provide direction and informationto customers
- Manage the site, including littercontrol at both the recycling depots and yard waste sites
- Explain by-laws, policies andprograms regarding waste and recycling, as required
- Use an automated brush chipper,compactor and other small hand tools
- Perform minor routine repairs, whenrequired
- Complete regular basic recordkeeping
- On inclement weather days, staffmay be moved to do other related duties, such as cart/bin maintenance,sanitation barn cleanup, and litter control at other locations
- Staff will rotate through all sitesbased on a provided schedule

Qualifications & Experience:

- Must have completed a high school diploma or equivalent
- A valid class 5 license is required, and a Drivers Abstract thatis satisfactory to the City of Lethbridge
- Excellent customer service skillsto build and maintain positive relationships with customers
- Knowledge about Waste andEnvironment programs offered in Lethbridge
- Basic computer skills
- Proven ability to adhere to Healthand Safety processes and programs
- Good mechanical aptitude toperform minor maintenance and assist in diagnosing operating problems




- The physical ability and stamina to perform heavy manual labour for extended periods of time under various weather conditions is required

If you are notcurrently a City of Lethbridge employee, or depending on the circumstances ofyour current position, at the time an offer of employment is provided, you willbe responsible for providing a copy of a five-year Commercial OR Non-CommercialDriver’s Abstract. The Driver’s Abstract is to be obtained within 30 calendar daysof the date of offer and applicants will be responsible for the cost ofobtaining the Abstract. If you do not submit an Abstract, or the Abstractshows 6 or more demerits or includes any of the unacceptable driving itemslisted below, your offer of employment may be rescinded. The City of Lethbridgereserves the right to determine what is a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract.

An unacceptabledriving record includes, but is not limited to:

- A record of any suspension of Operator’s License within the preceding threeyears which is related to a driving offence.
- An overall driving history that reflects poor driving behavior, will bedetermined at the discretion of the City.
- Within the preceding three years any Criminal Code or Provincial drivingconviction including:
- a. Impaired Driving related offence
- b. Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- c. Criminal Flight from a Peace Officer
- d. Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident
- e. Drive while Disqualified/Prohibited
- f. Careless Driving
