Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Accounting Manager is accountable for the integrity of the general ledger and balance sheet, ensuring timely, accurate financial close and strong technical accounting compliance under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). This role partners closely with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), the Commercial Finance team, and external auditors, and plays a key role in maintaining updated internal controls and financial reporting discipline. The Accounting Manager will also interact with senior leaders, including Directors and Controllers, and must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.ResponsibilitiesFull ownership of balance sheet accounts, including preparation and review of monthly reconciliationsPerform detailed variance analysis with clear explanations for managementProactively identify and resolve reconciling items, aged balances, and accounting risksPrepare balance sheet roll-forwards and supporting schedules for audit and management reviewManage the month-end, half-year, and year-end close processes, ensuring all internal and corporate head office deadlines are metReview and approve journal entries to ensure accurate posting to the general ledger in accordance with IFRSManage sub-ledger to general ledger reconciliations (bank reconciliations, fixed assets, commodity and corporate taxes, payroll, intercompany, accounts receivable and accounts payable)Maintain and govern the chart of accounts and documentation standards for the close processSupport budget and forecast cycles through accurate financial reporting and variance analysis, with a focus on administrative operating expenses and leasing/rent costsPrepare and maintain standardized reporting schedules, templates,
and supporting analysis for budgeting and forecastingProduce clear actual-versus-budget/forecast variance analysis with tailored executive commentaryAct as a key point of contact for external auditors for general ledger and balance sheet areasPartner with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure all audit deliverables are metEnsure compliance with Lindt Internal Control Standards (LICS) across all functional areasManage the accounting team and review work to ensure accuracy and completenessIdentify opportunities to streamline reporting processes, reconciliations, and workflowsSupport system enhancements and accounting-related Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) improvementsProvide coaching and development to direct reportsLead special project implementations where required and support the Financial Controller in process improvement initiativesRespond to inquiries from the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Controller, and department leaders regarding financial results and specialized reporting requestsAdvise staff on handling non-routine reporting transactionsQualifications4-5 years of progressive experience in financial reporting or general ledger accounting, including 1-2 years of supervisory experienceCompletion of a Chartered Skilled Accountant (CPA) designationSolid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and IFRSPrior public accounting experience (Big Four or mid-tier firm) strongly preferredProficiency in Excel and financial systems; experience with SAP or similar Enterprise Resource Planning software is an assetStrong attention to detail, ownership mindset, and ability to meet tight deadlinesEffective people leadership and project management skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to thrive and have fun in a committed, hard‑working environmentRewards PackageThe standard hiring range for this role is $90,000-$115,000 CAD per annum with a 15% performance‑based bonus.
