Job DescriptionThe Power Engineer/Building Technician is responsible for operating the facility, including mechanical and other supporting systems; performing structured inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance, routine and on‑demand services on facility mechanical equipment and other systems. The Technician also performs work in accordance with established processes and practices and complies with internal and external requirements, including environmental, health and safety, and fire protection.Contract Dates: May – August 2026.Work Arrangement: fully on‑site within a specific city, without travel outside the area.Work Location: TBD, but cities include Edmonton, Calgary, Grande Prairie.Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesTroubleshooting:Provides observations about facility, mechanical and electrical equipment, systems conditions and deficiencies and suggests enhancements and repairs.Maintenance:Performs work in accordance with established processes and practices; complies with allinternal and external requirements; conducts regular facility and equipment inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure uptime objectives; responds to routine andon‑demand service requests; monitors facilities through walkthroughs; operates mechanical systems; manages work order lifecycle; assists in implementingthe PM program, records defects, escalates deficiencies, and maintains related documents.Client Relations:Assists in enhancing tenant and customer satisfaction and maintaining positive relations through the manner in which work is performed and services are delivered.Administration:Participates in facility‑related projects; ensures compliance withcorporate and legislative policies; maintains assigned tools and arranges for repair/replacement; submits expenditures ontime; performs other duties as assigned.Education,



Experience & QualificationsHigh school diploma plus trades training and/or certification or licensing.Experience providing preventive and corrective maintenance on heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, or pneumatic or hydraulic systems.Sound knowledge of processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance.Demonstrated ability to maintain, troubleshoot and repair mechanical and other building systems and equipment.Possesses a strong environmental, health, and safety mindset.Strong client‑service orientation along with a high sense of urgency.Knowledge and understanding of Building Automation Systems (BAS) & HVAC Systems.Effective communication skills for data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification.Mentoring skills required to support lower‑level technicians’ development.Must be able and willing to work shifts, be available for on‑call/standby and emergency call‑outs as they arise.Must strictly adhere to Health and Safety policies including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).Licenses and/or Professional AccreditationABSA Power Engineer – 4th Class required.ABSA Power Engineer – 3rd Class considered an asset.This is a full‑time, contract position with a salary range of $19 – $23 per hour.
