Eyeline is a global team of risk takers, innovators and perfectionists who achieve creative visions and have fun doing it. A dynamic workforce nestled within the industry’s most intriguing cities, united by a drive to push the boundaries of storytelling. The Senior Stage Software Engineer is responsible for architecting, developing, and maintaining the high-scale tools and data-processing workflows required to support volumetric capture, geometry processing, and various R&D efforts. The ideal candidate is an advanced Python engineer with deep expertise in Houdini, geometry manipulation, PDG-based automation, USD workflows, and contemporary pipeline virtualization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes). C++ experience is valuable but not a core requirement. This role partners closely with Production, Operations, R&D, and non-technical stakeholders to gather and document requirements, transform prototypes into robust production systems, and integrate Houdini-based geometry-processing (HDAs/SOPs), PDG/TOP automation, USD workflows, and ML, alongside containerized distributed compute (Docker/Kubernetes), into a scalable, reproducible architecture. A Senior Stage Software Engineer anticipates workflow friction, drives efficiency across large datasets, and ensures solutions meet the highest standards of quality, modularity, reproducibility, and maintainability.Key ResponsibilitiesLead development of volumetric capture and geometry-processing pipelines, turning early prototypes into robust, production-ready systemsTranslate stakeholder requirements into clear technical plans, assessing trade-offs, estimating effort, and identifying risksDesign and maintain Houdini-based workflows, including HDAs, SOP tools, and PDG/TOP networks for scalable automated processingBuild production-grade Python tooling and libraries for multi-step processing, ML integration, data validation, and USD output packagingIntegrate machine learning models for stabilization, alignment, registration,
and geometry refinement in collaboration with ML researchDevelop containerized compute workflows using Docker and Kubernetes to ensure reproducible, scalable execution across distributed compute environmentsDefine USD data structures and output formats to support clean downstream ingestion into VFX, TechAnim, and other pipelinesEnsure engineering excellence through documentation, testing, profiling, code reviews, and reproducibility-focused developmentCollaborate across Production, Operations, R&D, and non-technical teams to keep workflows aligned with broader studio needsMentor peers and contribute to architectural decision-making, fostering clarity, maintainability, and long-term pipeline scalabilityQualificationsMinimum ten (10) years of professional software development experience, with expert-level Python and experience building large-scale, production-grade tools and pipelinesMinimum three (3) years in senior or lead roles, driving complex technical initiatives and mentoring other engineersDeep experience with Houdini-based development, including building and maintaining HDAs, SOP-level geometry tools, and PDG/TOP-based automationStrong background in geometry processing, including mesh operations, remeshing, alignment, stabilization, or related mathematical workflowsHands-on experience integrating machine learning models (vision, tracking, alignment, registration, or inference pipelines) into production systemsProficiency with USD concepts and APIs, including structuring layered assets, payloads, and pipeline-ready data packagesExperience with containerized compute (e.G., Docker, Kubernetes) for scalable,
reproducible execution across distributed environmentsFamiliarity with Rez-based environment and dependency management, or equivalent package/environment systemsStrong engineering fundamentals, including modular design, testing, reproducibility, performance profiling, and documentationExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teamsSelf-directed, organized, detail-oriented, and driven, with a strong sense of ownership over systems and outcomesSalary$120,000 - $210,000 a yearThis salary range is specific to applicants applying to our position in Vancouver, BC.
