Software Technical Leader (Remote)–CiscoThis role can be performed from any location within Canada.Meet the TeamThe Platform Experience Backend team builds the APIs that power Splunk's visual search and data analysis solutions—enabling users to monitor, analyze, and act on log events, metrics, and time series data through intuitive point‑and‑click workflows. We're working on exciting unannounced big‑data products that will expand what Cisco and Splunk customers can do with their data in AI workflows. If you want to design world‑class APIs that shape how customers interact with their data at scale, this is the place!Your ImpactArchitect customer‑facing REST APIs that power user interfaces and enable enterprise customers to automate data‑management workflows—including complex and long‑running operations at scale.Shape the technical roadmap for Platform Experience backend services, ensuring architectural alignment across cloud and on‑premise deployments.Build, test, deploy, and maintain critical backend services. Provide technical guidance and validate the feasibility of proposed designs.Own multi‑team initiatives from design through production, with full accountability for quality, performance, and customer outcomes.Optimize services for performance and scalability. Develop testing and profiling strategies that keep production running smoothly.Define API standards and best practices across the organization, improving API quality and development efficiency within Data Management.Mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and hands‑on guidance—maintaining high standards while helping the team grow.Partner with designers, frontend engineers, technical writers, and other API teams to negotiate trade‑offs and ship cohesive solutions.Minimum Qualifications8+ years of backend development experience with proficiency in GoStrong software engineering fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, and systems designExperience architecting backend services on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) using Kubernetes and DockerDeep knowledge of REST API design and distributed systems concepts (consistency models, concurrency control, CAP theorem)Strong debugging skills and experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and performance profilingCommitment to operational excellence—you think about how your code serves customers in production,



not just shipping featuresClear written and verbal communication skills; able to write solid documentation and design docsExperience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction across teamsEnthusiasm for AI tools across the software development lifecycle and driving adoption within the team, with accountability for AI‑assisted outputBachelors + 8 years of related experience, or Masters + 6 years of related experience, or equivalent related work experience.Salary RangeThe starting salary range posted for this position is $144,400.00 to $194,400.00 and reflects the projected salary range for new hires in this position in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including incentive compensation*, equity, or benefits. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location, market conditions, job‑related skillset, experience, qualifications, education, certifications, and/or training. The full salary range for certain locations is listed below. For locations not listed below, the recruiter can share more details about compensation for the role in your location during the hiring process.New York City Metro Area: $183,800.00 - $303,100.00Non‑Metro New York State & Washington State: $163,600.00 - $269,800.00For quota‑based sales roles on Cisco’s sales plan, the ranges provided in this posting include base pay and sales target incentive compensation combined.Employees in Illinois, whether exempt or non‑exempt, will participate in a unique time off program to meet local requirements.BenefitsU.S. employees are offered benefits, subject to Cisco's plan eligibility rules, which include medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, paid parental leave, short and long‑term disability coverage, and basic life insurance. Employees may be eligible to receive grants of Cisco restricted stock units, which vest following continued employment with Cisco for defined periods of time.
