The Fort St. John Association for Community Living (FSJACL) is a non-profit agency which has been providing quality supports to individuals with developmental disabilities and complex needs in Fort St. John and District since 1960. The FSJACL is an accredited agency with a trained, caring, and trusted professional team of over 80 employees who provide quality services and opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities. The FSJACL works collaboratively with community partners to achieve our vision of inclusion for all.Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Finance is responsible for the full spectrum of financial and accounting functions of the agency. We are looking for a dynamic individual who has a higher-than-normal attention to detail, strong communication skills, positive computer/accounting skills, and who can work closely with our CEO to develop and meet our short and long–term goals in a fiscally responsible and transparent manner.DutiesOversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and auditsEnsure compliance with GAAP, legislation, and internal financial policiesDevelop and implement financial controls, systems, and proceduresPrepare financial statements and reports for the CEO and Board of DirectorsLead and mentor the finance team, fostering collaboration and accountabilityMonitor budgets, analyze variances, and provide strategic financial adviceManage payroll, benefits administration, and related accounting processesIdentify and mitigate financial risks to support long-term organizational stabilityLiaise with auditors, funders,
and external partners on financial mattersQualificationsA degree in Accounting or Business Administration or diplomaCPA designation preferredThree to five years of accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experienceDemonstrated experience in finance and accounting, including budget development, financial planning and reporting, forecasting, and management/establishment of internal controlsExperience in project and fund accountingProven ability to identify existing opportunities, foresee upcoming challenges, and effectively reactStrong analytic and business skillsDemonstrated ability to facilitate and work in a collaborative team environment utilizing best practices with effective time and project management skillsExcellent interpersonal skills with strong, effective oral/written communication experience particularly with businesses, community agencies, government, individuals, and families receiving our servicesStrong information technology experience including accounting software systems (Sage, Accpac, and ComVida experience preferred) and Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skillsRequirementsValid driver’s license, insurance & reliable transportationVulnerable Sector Criminal Record CheckPreference will be given to individuals who have worked in the Social Service sector and have knowledge of charitable organizations and associated requirements.Salary Range:$80,000 - $100,000 annually, based on experience.Competitive Benefit Package: including extended health, dental, life insurance, LTC, and enrollment in the Municipal Pension Plan.Hours of WorkFull-time position working 35 hours per week.
