Position Summary:
Reporting to the Field Superintendent, the Excavator Operator will be responsible to safely and efficiently operate excavators to perform earthmoving, trenching, grading, and material handling on construction sites. This position is in remote locations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate the excavator in a safe and efficient manner, following site plans and supervisor instructions
- Conduct pre-operational checks – fluids & hoses
- Read grade stakes, laser levels, or 3D GPS displays to reach required depth and slope with minimal over-dig
- Backfill, compact, and trim slopes.
Switch to attachments (thumb, hoe-pack, grading bucket) as the task dictates
- Coordinate with ground personnel via radio and approved hand signals to avoid blind-side incidents and underground strikes
- Maintain accurate daily logs
- Adhere to all provincial and company safety protocols
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
- Ability to work safely, following established safety practices and procedures
- Minimum 3 years experience operating excavator
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must be able to do moderate to heavy lifting
- Must be available to work during the day, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays

Wage: $27 to $32 per hour dependent on qualifications and experience
