Overview

The Senior Director, Regulatory and Scientific Affairs is a pivotal leader responsible for shaping and executing the scientific and regulatory strategy for Loblaw's private label products across all categories (food and non‑food – natural health products, OTCs, medical devices, cosmetics, and personal care).

This role drives scientific excellence, regulatory foresight, and enables innovation to accelerate product development, amplify brand trust, and secure a competitive advantage in the Canadian market. The position leads a high‑performing team, fosters critical external partnerships, and ensures the highest standards of compliance and customer‑centricity.

Key Responsibilities

- Scientific Leadership: Leverage scientific expertise and evidence to pioneer innovative solutions and power strategic initiatives.
- Brand trust & customer‑centricity: Elevate trust through evidence‑based claims and storytelling.
- Strategic partnerships: Enhance partnerships to accelerate innovation and unlock market leadership.
- Shape future food: Enable emerging novel foods and disruptive technical solutions.
- Regulatory Excellence & Advocacy: Lead regulatory expertise, engage with bodies and industry associations, and influence Canada’s regulatory reform.
- Regulatory readiness: Ensure readiness‑focused plans for all active files impacting Loblaw Brands.
- Technical implementation: Lead implementation of regulatory and strategic initiatives.
- Risk Management & Brand Integrity:



Implement robust risk assessment frameworks, optimize mitigation, provide proactive guidance, and enhance processes for speed to market.

Qualifications

- Master's in Food Science, Nutrition, Regulatory Affairs, or related discipline.
- Minimum 10+ years of progressive leadership in Regulatory Affairs and Scientific Affairs within food or consumer packaged goods (CPG) industries.
- Strategic thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience leading and developing high‑performing teams with a culture of innovation.
- Extensive knowledge of the Canadian regulatory setting.
- Track record of stakeholder engagement with regulatory bodies (Health Canada, CFIA) and industry associations.
- Exceptional communication, influencing, and presentation skills.

Compensation

Hiring Range: $170,000.00 - $220,000.00 per year.
