The Oncology Unit (C3) is an active inpatient oncology facility providing a continuum of care for adults with solid tumor malignancies. C3 is committed to investing in our nurses’ professional growth and development with the goal of developing a community of specialized oncology nurses who will seamlessly provide care to our patients along the cancer continuum. Nurses will be offered a standardized orientation to enhance building a foundation of oncology knowledge as well as create confidence to care for patients with cancer. As a member of the healthcare team, the Registered Practical Nurse assesses and evaluates patient care and provides nursing care according to the Standards of Practice for Registered Practical Nurses.
Qualifications
- Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
- Demonstrated willingness and ability to work safely with biohazardous byproducts
- Demonstrated ability to function in an environment which is quick-paced, collaborating with the RN
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, families and other members of the healthcare team
- Ability to set priorities and organize work in response to patient needs
- Demonstrated ability to support patients and families of patients who are terminally ill through death and dying
- Preferred recent (within the last 2 years) experience in the care of oncology patients and patients with digestive diseases
