Position Summary:

- The Canadian Mental Health Association, Simcoe County Branch seeks a Occupational Therapist (OT), who, in accordance with the agency’s policies, standards, and guidelines, provides comprehensive, community-based occupational therapy services in accordance with the program’s model of care, and as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting individuals with mental illness. The OT will have the clinical skills and experiences to be able to assess, plan, develop, coordinate, and provide treatment/rehabilitation/support services. Their responsibilities include developing and coordinating individualized care plans, crisis response, advocacy, supporting symptom management, facilitating life skills and community integration, and collaborating with healthcare providers and community partners.

What You'll Do:

- Deliver client-centred occupational therapy services within a multidisciplinary team and in accordance with the program’s model of care.
- Provide assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and recovery-oriented support for individuals with mental illness.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments (functional, cognitive, environmental, and daily living) and develop individualized intervention plans.
- Plan, implement, and monitor recovery plans (OCAN) in collaboration with clients and team members.
- Support symptom management, psychosocial rehabilitation, and development of adaptive and life skills.
- Provide intensive, community‑based treatment, rehabilitation, outreach and support services to individuals with mental illness and, at times, complex needs.
- Support medication management as part of physician‑led treatment plans, which may include delivering medications,



observing and documenting administration and adherence, monitoring therapeutic response and side effects, and promptly reporting changes in mental status or clinical concerns to appropriate clinical staff.
- Document assessments, interventions, client progress, and monitor medication effects/side effects; report changes to clinical team and psychiatrist.
- Provide counselling and therapeutic interventions to help clients manage symptoms and achieve personal goals.
- Facilitate therapeutic groups and skill-building activities.
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including budgeting, meal preparation, transportation, personal care, as well as supporting housing stabilization.
- Coordinate care, consult with community providers, and advocate for access to services and resources.
- Provide education to clients, families, and community partners on mental health and healthy living.
- Participate in crisis intervention and risk management, including on-call support during work hours.
- Monitor and support medication compliance, including documentation in accordance with program needs and guidelines.
- Support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services, contributing to effective and responsive service delivery.
- Comply with all agency policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures, and participate in their ongoing improvement.
- Collaborate with management and team members to ensure efficient, coordinated, and client‑centered service delivery.
- Participate actively in service planning, team meetings, supervision and/or performance and development meetings, committees, and agency‑wide initiatives.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with community partners, referral sources, diverse communities, and professional networks to support coordinated, inclusive, and culturally responsive services.
- Facilitate access to internal and external services and supports, including referrals to CMHA SCB programs to ensure continuity of care.
- Represent the agency’s mission, values, and philosophy in all professional interactions.
- Assist in the training, mentoring, and onboarding of new staff, students, and/or volunteers.




- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Program Manager or organizational leadership.

Required Qualifications:

- 3-5 years experience as an Occupational Therapist and in mental health and/or addictions sector (community-based setting preferred).
- Master’s degree in occupational therapy.
- Registered (licensed) in good standing with the Canadian Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
- Submission of a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC), including a Criminal Record Check (CRC) in good standing.
- Must have access to a vehicle to transport clients, a valid Ontario driver’s license, and adequate automobile insurance.
- Fluency in French or another second language would be an asset.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.

Salary Scale:

- RN: $68,400 - $77,700 *per annum

Hours of Work:

- Thirty-five (35) hours per week
- Rotational shift work based on a seven (7) day staffing schedule
- Program provides service 365 days per year
- Able to work within a flexible framework to respond to client needs
