Job Description:

We are looking for a Data Scientist to join an automotive organization in Cambridge, Ontario on a Long-term Contract basis. This position centres on developing statistical and machine learning solutions that connect market information with sales and inventory performance. The successful candidate will combine solid analytical thinking with hands-on Python modelling to generate actionable business insights. You will work with modern data and BI tools to evaluate model effectiveness and strengthen data-driven decision-making.

Responsibilities:

- Design and refine statistical and machine learning models that link market trends with sales and inventory analysis.
- Analyze data pipelines and reporting inputs to ensure reliable information is available for modelling and performance evaluation.
- Build, test, and interpret models in Python using notebook-based workflows to support business analysis.
- Measure model outcomes using appropriate performance indicators and recommend adjustments to improve analytical value.
- Partner with business and analytics stakeholders to translate commercial questions into practical modelling approaches.




- Use BI and low-code analytical tools to present findings in a clear and decision-focused manner.
- Explore large-scale datasets using relevant big data and cloud technologies to uncover patterns and support forecasting activities.

Requirements:

- Demonstrated experience in statistical analysis and machine learning within a business or commercial analytics environment.
- Strong hands-on proficiency with Python and Jupyter for data exploration, modelling, and interpretation.
- Practical knowledge of data visualization and low-code BI tools for communicating analytical results.
- Familiarity with market, sales, and inventory data and the ability to connect these sources into meaningful insights.
- Understanding of model evaluation methods, data flow concepts, and analytical problem-solving techniques.
- Exposure to big data and cloud platforms such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, Hive, Kafka, AWS, or related technologies.
- Ability to work independently in a Long-term Contract role while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
