This front-line Public Health Inspector I - Safe Healthy Environments position will focus on a generalist program area in South Zone. These functional areas include food, safe built, emergency preparedness, drinking water, recreational water, nuisance and communicable disease control. Each inspector is responsible for protecting all Albertans, including disadvantaged populations by conducting a variety of inspections in all EPH program areas.
Description:
As a Public Health Inspector I and appointed Executive Officer under the authority of the Public Health Act, you will be responsible for the delivery of a comprehensive environmental public health program within an assigned geographical area. You will perform work duties in the interest of prevention, correcting or limiting the effects of environmental health hazards, whether physical, chemical or biological in nature, which may adversely affect the health of individuals or communities. You will support individual and community wellness through monitoring inspections, disease surveillance, consultation and enforcement of the Public Health Act and regulations within protected food, safe drinking water, safe recreational water, safe built environment and healthy environments.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of bachelor's degree in Environmental Health or in a related field of study plus a recognized Environmental Health technical program. Completion of certificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada). Active Member in Good Standing with the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors (CIPHI).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Ability to work 2-4 weekends per year, additional as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to manage busy workload. Ability to remain accountable to performance targets.
