Office Location: Burnaby, BC (projects across Metro Vancouver)
Compensation: $28 - $32 per hour, depending on experience

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Landscape Construction Lead Hand, you will work closely with the Foreperson to help coordinate daily site activities, support crew members, and ensure landscape projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to company quality standards.

You will remain hands-on with construction while helping guide the crew and maintain productivity on site.

Hardscape Construction

- Build patios, stairs, retaining walls, fences, walkways, and other outdoor features.
- Perform excavation, grading, base preparation, and compaction.
- Install pavers, natural stone, concrete products, and wall systems.
- Operate landscape construction equipment, including skid steers, excavators, compactors, and power tools.
- Assist with layout, measurements, and ensuring installations meet project specifications.
- Read and interpret landscape plans, construction drawings, and site layouts to support accurate installation.

Softscape Construction





- Install water features, artificial turf, sod, trees, shrubs, and planting areas.
- Complete soil preparation, grading, and landscape finishing.
- Ensure final details meet company quality standards.
- Assist with coordinating workflow between hardscape and softscape tasks.

Leadership & Crew Support

- Support the Foreperson with daily task planning and site organization.
- Help coordinate and guide a small crew of 2–4 employees.
- Provide direction and support to crew members to ensure tasks are completed properly.
- Encourage safe work practices, quality workmanship, and efficient production.
- Communicate progress, challenges, and material needs with the Foreperson.
- Help maintain a positive and respectful team environment.

General Responsibilities

- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site.
- Perform basic field calculations, including measurements, grades, slopes, and material quantities.
- Read and interpret landscape plans and construction drawings.
- Identify site challenges and communicate solutions with the Foreperson.
- Ensure tools, equipment, and materials are properly maintained and organized.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting materials and equipment.
- Complete time tracking and job documentation accurately.
- Support seasonal work, including snow removal during winter months.

Who You Are

You are an experienced landscape construction professional who enjoys building quality projects and helping a team succeed.

You have:

- Minimum 3 years of landscape construction experience.
- Strong hardscape construction experience, including pavers, retaining walls, stairs, stonework, and grading.
- Experience operating landscape equipment such as skid steers, excavators, and compactors.
- The ability to complete skilled construction tasks independently.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, installation methods, and job site organization.
- Ability to read and interpret landscape plans, construction drawings,



elevations, and site layouts.
- Basic field math skills, including measurements, material quantities, grades, and slopes.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work outdoors year-round and lift 50 lbs repeatedly.
- Reliable transportation to job sites throughout Metro Vancouver.
- CSA-approved steel-toed boots and required PPE.

Bonus Skills

- Experience towing trailers.
- Experience managing small crews or acting as a Lead Hand.
- Experience with project layout, elevations, grading, and construction measurements.
- Basic digital literacy for time tracking and communication.
- First Aid certification.

Physical Outdoor Work Expectations

This is a physically active role requiring lifting, bending, and working outdoors in all weather conditions across Metro Vancouver. You’ll spend most of your time on site, building and creating exceptional outdoor spaces.
