Job description:

Astro Box is a family owned and operated manufacturer of printed paper packaging. We’re looking for a Mechanic to maintain our equipment and facilities and grow with our company. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Maintain various types of printing, packaging and processing equipment
- Perform minor modifications/repairs/improvements on equipment
- Change/clean/lubricate various machinery parts such as belts, bearings and air lines
- Communicate with outside electricians, mechanics and millwrights in a timely and professional manner
- Troubleshoot & diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic issues and make necessary repairs quickly and efficiently
- Communicate regularly with shift supervisors and machine operators regarding equipment status
- Complete requests for purchase of supplies (i.e., belts, bearings, motors, oil etc.)
- Perform regular maintenance on various lifting equipment (tow motors, pump trucks etc.)
- General plant repairs involving the use of common hand and power tools.
- Conduct preventative maintenance activities
- Perform all work safely,



adhering to ministry standards
- Digitally record all maintenance activities on a web-based form
- Ensure equipment and maintenance work comply with company quality and food safety standards
- Maintain a clean and organized maintenance area
- Other duties as assigned by management team or owners.

Education and/or Experience:

- Post-secondary diploma in a related field
- Apprenticeships/ Co-Op an asset
- Printing and/or Packaging equipment experience an asset
- 3-5 years experience in industrial manufacturing environments

Required Skills and Abilities:

- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong aptitude for mechanics
- Good analytical and attention to detail skills
- Ability to work professionally under pressure and meet deadlines
- Mechanical experience in a high-speed packaging and/or manufacturing environment (food industry is highly preferred)
- Access to a vehicle a necessity in order to leave the premises to procure miscellaneous parts/tools/supplies

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
