We are seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support individuals with intellectual disabilities in leading meaningful, independent, and fulfilling lives. As a DSP, you will play an essential role in providing person-centered care, promoting inclusion, and supporting individuals in their homes and communities while working within the guiding principles of the Adults Living with an Intellectual Disability Act (ALIDA) agency policies, Residential Care and Licensing and CLdS standards.

Key Responsibilities

Residential Support

- Support individuals’ physical, emotional, and mental well-being
- Assist with daily living skills and personal care needs
- Administer and monitor medications accurately
- Provide appropriate supervision and follow individualized support plans to promote health, safety, and well-being
- Recognize and respond appropriately to concerns of abuse or neglect
- Respect and maintain individual privacy and confidentiality

Meal Preparation & Nutrition

- Support individuals in choosing and preparing nutritious meals and snacks
- Follow Canada’s Food Guide and accommodate personal preferences, dietary restrictions, and medical needs
- Follow all meal-related support plans

Person-Centered Planning

- Support individuals in achieving personal goals through person-centered planning
- Assist with pre-planning, goal development, and follow-through activities

Community & Recreational Involvement





- Encourage participation in recreational, vocational, educational, and leisure activities
- Assist individuals in attending community events and building social connections
- Promote independence and active involvement in home responsibilities and daily routines

Safety & Household Management

- Foster a safe, clean, and supportive setting for both individuals and staff
- Ensure equipment and property are used and maintained safely
- Report repair or maintenance concerns
- Follow all personal safety and behavioral support plans

Documentation & Communication

- Complete all required documentation according to agency policies, Residential Care Licensing, and CLdS requirements
- Read and complete shift logs and communication books accurately
- Maintain positive communication with individuals, families, coworkers, supervisors, and community partners
- Share pertinent information appropriately while maintaining confidentiality

Financial Support

- Assist individuals with personal financial management according to their Financial Care Plans
- Support household budgeting, grocery shopping, and receipt tracking
- Ensure spending remains within household budgets

Professional Development

- Participate in ongoing training, meetings, and professional development opportunities




- Assist with orientation and mentoring of new staff when required

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications

- High school diploma or GED required
- Experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities is considered an asset
- Valid driver’s license is considered an asset
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Compassionate, patient, and respectful attitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Clear Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check required
- First Aid/CPR (will train)
- NVCI (will train)
