Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Utility Line Locator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately locating and marking underground utility lines to prevent damage during excavation and construction activities. This position requires a robust understanding of utility systems, safety protocols, and the ability to operate various tools and equipment effectively.
Responsibilities
- Utilize specialized equipment to locate and mark underground utility lines, including electrical, water, gas, and telecommunications.
- Conduct thorough site assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment as needed for digging and excavation tasks.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and tools to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with contractors and other stakeholders regarding utility locations.
- Maintain accurate records of utility locations and work performed for documentation purposes.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to minimize risks during operations.
Requirements
- H2S, First-Aid, CSO, Ground Disturbance Level 2 (Some flexibility on obtaining once hired if expired tickets)
- Advanced Line Locating Course
- 1-2 years of Underground Utility Locating experience is required.
- Experience working in remote environments.
- Capable of working independently and solving problems on the job.
- Physical ability to work in varied terrain and ability to lift heavy equipment.
- Knowledge of mapping software such as Abadata and Bluebeam
- Willing to work in various environmental conditions with varied terrain, able to work in wildlife populated areas, and willing to work in remote areas for extended periods and varied hours
- Valid driver’s license is required.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, good attendance, sound judgment skills, and general computer knowledge.
