**Job Title: Sit-Down Forklift Operator**

**Job Description**

This role focuses on operating a sit-down counterbalance forklift within a busy LTL freight cross-dock facility.

You will load and unload trailers, move pallets, handle shipping paperwork, and support a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.

The position combines forklift operation with manual material handling and general dock support to ensure freight moves accurately and on time.

**Responsibilities**

+ Operate a sit-down counterbalance forklift to move pallets and freight throughout the cross-dock facility.
+ Load and unload trailers with freight using the forklift for approximately 60% of the shift.
+ Manually handle and move product by hand, lifting up to 50 lbs as needed for roughly 40% of the shift, depending on daily shipment volume.
+ Handle bills of lading, waybills, and other shipping and receiving paperwork accurately throughout the shift.
+ Follow all safety procedures and guidelines related to forklift operation, material handling, and dock work.

**Essential Skills**

+ Minimum 1 year of experience operating a sit-down counterbalance forklift.
+ At least 1 year of experience loading and unloading trailers using a forklift in a transportation, warehouse, distribution, 3PL, or LTL environment.
+ Proven experience working in cross-dock, shipping, receiving, or freight operations.
+ Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift.
+ Valid forklift ticket (in-house or private); if expired or not currently held, willingness to obtain or renew through approved ticketing.

**Additional Skills & Qualifications**

+ Leadership experience or the ability to take initiative and support team coordination.
+ Experience using RF scanners for tracking and processing freight.
+ Hands-on experience with waybills and bills of lading in a transportation or warehouse setting.
+ Comfort working in tight dock spaces and around multiple forklifts and bay doors.
+ Strong attention to detail when handling paperwork and freight documentation.
+ Good communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.

**Work Environment**





The role is based in a very fast-paced LTL freight cross-dock environment handling courier shipments and pallets destined for retail stores.

Freight arrives from distributors, is unloaded, sorted, and repacked for outbound delivery in a relatively small and busy dock space with extensive in-and-out movement at the bay doors.

You will work as part of a team of roughly 20–25 people on the floor across all shifts, including dockworkers and forklift operators, and collaborate closely with supervisors.

The shift is a third shift schedule, Monday to Friday, from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., as part of an ongoing contract.

The dock environment can be cold, so outdoor-style attire such as jackets, sweatshirts, and other warm layers is important to stay comfortable during the shift.

The pay range for this position is $24.75 - $24.75/hr.
