SAP Applications & Business Systems Manager

Location: Downtown Toronto, Ontario

Hybrid Schedule:

- September through June: 4 days per week in office, remote Fridays
- July and August: 3 days per week in office, remote Mondays and Fridays

Travel Requirements:
- Up to 20% travel

Position Overview:

Our client is seeking an experienced Manager, Applications & Business Systems to lead the support, administration, enhancement, and strategic evolution of our enterprise business applications landscape, with a primary focus on SAP S/4HANA.

Reporting to the IT leadership team, this role is responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and continuous improvement of SAP and related business systems.

The successful candidate will oversee application support, system enhancements, integrations, upgrades, and project delivery while providing functional and technical leadership to internal stakeholders and external service providers.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring technology solutions align with operational requirements, SOX compliance standards, ITIL best practices, and corporate governance objectives while minimizing disruption to mining operations.

Key Responsibilities:

SAP Application Management & Support
- Lead the day-to-day support and administration of the SAP S/4HANA setting, with primary responsibility for the Materials Management (MM), Plant Maintenance (PM), Finance & Controlling (FICO), and Project Systems (PS) modules.

- Ensure system reliability, performance, and business continuity across all SAP applications.

- Manage incident resolution, root cause analysis, and problem management activities in collaboration with internal teams and external partners.

- Establish and monitor service levels to ensure timely resolution of application-related issues.





Business Analysis & Solution Delivery
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand operational requirements and translate them into effective system solutions.

- Develop functional requirements, business process designs, and solution specifications.

- Collaborate with technical teams and implementation partners to deliver scalable and sustainable SAP solutions aligned with business objectives.

Process Improvement & Optimization
- Identify opportunities to improve business processes and system utilization across the organization.

- Configure, optimize, and enhance SAP business processes, including maintenance notifications, work orders, task lists, technical objects, and related workflows.

- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that improve efficiency, data quality, and operational effectiveness.

- Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, risks, and stakeholder expectations.

- Coordinate with vendors, consultants, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery with minimal operational impact.

- Serve as the subject matter expert for SAP applications and related business systems.

- Develop training materials, procedural documentation, and user guides.

Governance, Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain comprehensive technical, functional, and process documentation.

- Ensure compliance with SOX controls, audit requirements, cybersecurity standards,



and IT governance policies.

- Promote adherence to ITIL best practices for incident, problem, change, and release management.

- Support internal and external audit activities as required.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business Systems, or a related discipline.

- SAP certification in one or more relevant modules is considered a strong asset.

- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience supporting, implementing, and enhancing SAP environments.

- Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA and related modules, including MM, PM, FICO, and PS.

- Proven experience leading application support functions, system upgrades, and business application projects.

- Robust understanding of SAP integration points across enterprise systems.

- Experience working within regulated environments and supporting compliance requirements.

- Ability to effectively communicate with technical teams, business leaders, and external vendors.
