When you volunteer at the Canadian Cancer Society you have real impact. The Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure is a volunteer-led event and the largest breast cancer fundraiser in Canada. Join us on event day in your local community. You can choose a specific role and shift(s) based on availability.
Description
The Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure is a 5k or 1k walk or run.
This year’s event will be taking place on Sunday, October 4th, 2026.
Tasks for this role include:
- Volunteers help create a warm, memorable experience with décor, snacks, and thoughtful touches.
- Greet and connect with our Participants of Hope with kindness and compassion
- Hand out pink t-shirts and help guide participants through POH activities- like the Parade of Hope or special events if applicable
- Support the Hope Lounge—a welcoming space filled with decorations, snacks, and thoughtful touches to make it memorable
- You’ll play a key role in making Run a place of honour and celebration for those diagnosed, in treatment, living with metastatic cancer, survivors, and BRCA1/BRCA2 gene carriers
Definition of Participant of Hope: This group includes people in active breast cancer treatment, those living with metastatic breast cancer, breast cancer survivors,
and individuals who carry a genetic risk for the disease.
Definition of Hope Lounge:A welcoming space where Participants of Hope are celebrated.
Why we need you
Together, we are changing the future of breast cancer. By joining the CIBC Run for the Cure this year and uniting your community together for the breast cancer cause, you are helping us ensure we can continue to fund ground-breaking breast cancer research and clinical trials. Thanks to these investments in research and clinical trials, approximately 90% of women will survive at least 5 years after a breast cancer diagnosis. By being a part of the CIBC Run for the Cure, you are helping us make tremendous progress!
