Matrix HR is recruiting on behalf of a leading Energy Services client for an Indigenous Construction Participation Program (ICPP) Coordinator to support Indigenous Construction Participation Program (ICPP) initiatives on major pipeline construction projects in Alberta!

This field-based role serves as the primary on-site representative supporting Indigenous participation throughout active construction activities. Working closely with Indigenous communities, construction personnel, environmental teams, and project stakeholders, you will help foster meaningful participation, strengthen community relationships, and contribute to the successful delivery of major pipeline projects.

This contract opportunity supports the McLeod South and Colt Projects and requires travel between project locations in Edson and Hinton, Alberta.

The ideal candidate will have experience in Indigenous Relations, community engagement, pipeline construction, environmental monitoring, or another related field-based environment, along with a passion for building respectful relationships and supporting Indigenous participation in major infrastructure projects.

What You'll Do

As the Indigenous Construction Participation Program Coordinator, you will serve as the Company's designated representative responsible for delivering Indigenous Construction Participation Program (ICPP) activities throughout active construction.

Program Coordination & Participant Support

- Support the planning, coordination, and execution of project-specific Indigenous participation initiatives.

- Coordinate participant transportation, daily schedules, onboarding activities, safety training, and PPE readiness.

- Drive and accompany ICPP participants to active construction sites while supporting their engagement, safety, and overall field experience.

- Assist participants with goal setting, performance discussions, ongoing mentorship, and overall program development.

- Support participants with reporting requirements and asset-related needs, including mapping tools and field technology.

Community & Stakeholder Engagement

- Act as the primary liaison between Indigenous participants, Indigenous communities,



construction personnel, environmental teams, Indigenous Programs, and other project stakeholders.

- Build and maintain culturally respectful relationships while supporting effective communication across diverse groups.

- Represent the Indigenous Construction Participation Program during meetings with Indigenous communities and project stakeholders.

- Facilitate discussions regarding construction activities, project progress, environmental mitigation measures, and participant questions or concerns.

Project Coordination & Reporting

- Support issue management processes by tracking concerns, escalating issues when appropriate, and assisting with resolution activities.

- Assist with the implementation of the Cultural Resource Discovery Contingency Plan in collaboration with Indigenous Programs and project teams.

- Prepare presentations, field reports, program updates, and other project documentation.

- Maintain participant schedules, daily tracking, forecasting information, database updates, and program records.

- Capture and report field updates, success stories, risks, issues, and opportunities.

- Attend regular meetings with Indigenous Relations and project teams.

What We're Looking For

Minimum two (2) years of combined post-secondary education and related industry experience.

- Experience working in Indigenous Relations, community engagement, environmental monitoring, construction, pipeline, energy, or another related field-based environment.

- Strong cultural awareness developed through training and/or lived experience.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across cross-functional and cross-cultural teams.





- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

- Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a clean driver's abstract.

- Ability to obtain required project site access, including:

- Safety and fit-for-work requirements

- Alcohol and drug clearance (including cannabis)

Preferred Qualifications

- Previous experience supporting Indigenous communities and engagement programs.

- Experience supporting pipeline construction projects.

- Environmental inspection or environmental monitoring experience.

- Natural Resource Sciences Technical Diploma or Degree.

- Environmental Monitoring training (UNBC or equivalent).

- First Aid Level 1 certification.

- WHMIS certification.

Work Arrangement

- Location: Edson and Hinton, Alberta

- Contract: August 17, 2026 – May 3, 2027

- Schedule: 40 hours per week

- Work Arrangement: 100% field-based

- Rotation: 6 days on / 1 day off

- Hours: 10–12 hour workdays as required

- Regular travel between project locations in Edson and Hinton

- Hotel accommodations provided as required
