Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner (PHCNP) – Nunavut

Pay:

- $115/hour (Minimum 2 years of Canadian Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner experience)
- $125/hour for experienced Nurse Practitioners with 2 years experience in Nunavut, Northern Ontario, or Northern Manitoba
- Minimum contract: 4 weeks

Minimum Qualifications (Required)

- Current Nurse Practitioner registration and eligible to work in Nunavut
- Valid Nunavut Nursing Licence (or eligible to obtain before the start date)
- Minimum 2 years of Canadian Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner experience
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Strong assessment and independent clinical decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently in remote communities

Applications with less than 2 years of Canadian Nurse Practitioner experience will not be considered.

Duties & Responsibilities

As a Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner, you will:

- Provide comprehensive primary health care across the lifespan
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic illnesses
- Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests
- Prescribe medications and treatments within scope of practice




- Perform comprehensive health assessments and physical examinations
- Provide prenatal, women's health, pediatric, adult, and geriatric care
- Deliver emergency assessment and stabilization until transfer when required
- Promote disease prevention and health education
- Administer immunizations and public health programs
- Manage chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, COPD, and asthma
- Perform minor procedures within NP scope of practice
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records
- Participate in on-call rotation when required
- Provide culturally respectful, patient-centered care to Inuit communities
