Our client, a Western Canada–based mechanical services and flow control organization, is seeking a Project Manager, Major Projects to lead complex field-driven initiatives across the Lower Mainland and Alberta markets.

This is a hybrid leadership role blending major project management, bid review/estimating, and technical client interface. The successful candidate will oversee major mechanical projects.

Key Responsibilities

Major Project Leadership (Engineering-Level Oversight)

- Lead and manage 8–12 concurrent major mechanical projects from bid review through execution and close-out

- Conduct detailed bid reviews, scope validation, cost analysis, and risk assessment

- Act as senior client liaison — conduct site walkthroughs, review NDT/NDE requirements, confirm weld procedures, and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards

- Oversee projects involving pressure vessel design, fabrication, modification, and repair

- Ensure adherence to ASME and applicable pressure vessel/manufacturing standards

- Coordinate with P.Eng., inspectors, fabrication shops, and field crews to ensure technical integrity and quality execution

- Manage projects across Metro Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton markets

- Monitor budgets, schedules, forecasts, change orders, and commercial risk

Operations & Team Leadership (Day-to-Day Oversight)

- Supervise and mentor a small team handling dispatch, coordination, estimating support, and field scheduling

- Oversee equipment, inventory, and workflow management to support both major and smaller service projects

- Coordinate field activities including saw cutting, slab work, demolition support, and related mechanical scopes

- Develop process improvements for scheduling, reporting, and operational efficiency

- Identify and groom emerging project managers while strengthening non-technical operational leadership

Qualifications

- 8+ years of experience in mechanical project management, industrial construction, pressure vessel manufacturing, or related heavy mechanical environments

- Direct experience with pressure vessel design and/or manufacturing (ASME Section VIII familiarity preferred)

- Strong background in bid reviews, scope analysis, estimating, and commercial oversight

- Working knowledge of weld procedures, NDT/NDE processes, and applicable mechanical/pressure codes

- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects with regional coordination

- Demonstrated leadership experience supervising field teams and coordinators

- Engineering degree preferred (P.Eng. strongly valued but not mandatory)

- Willingness to travel between BC and Alberta as required

Ideal Profile

- Robust client-facing presence with ability to guide customers through technically complex scopes

- Comfortable operating at a General Manager level while remaining hands-on

- Balanced technical depth (pressure vessels, mechanical systems) with practical field knowledge

- Process-driven, organized, and commercially aware

- Interested in long-term progression into broader operational leadership

This is a senior leadership opportunity for a technically grounded project professional ready to oversee major mechanical and pressure vessel initiatives while shaping operational excellence across Western Canada. Salary expectations are $130,000 - $160,000 CAD.
